Roundup: Hanukkah Style - The Bestest

I have yet to find a modern, Martha Stewart-ish approach to Jewish style, be it in magazines or blogs. If you know of any, please post in the comments.

Especially around the holidays, Christmas for sure gets all the mad props in terms of creative decor, while Hanukkah remains the dorky little sister. It's not that I think we should turn Hanukkah into a materialistic holiday, but I do think we can have a little talk about making it a little more, um, modern looking.

Here are some things I've discovered online that make Hanukkah look better than it has in years:

(C)HANUKKAH CARDS:

The chalkboard look is big this season, especially on Etsy, especially on Christmas cards. But now it's Hanukkah's turn to get chalky! I love this whimsical, hand-made looking card. You can personalize it with your family photo too.

Order one for your family here.

MENORAHS A LA MODE:

This ain't your Bubby's menorah, but I bet she'd buy it for you if it meant the possibility of you lighting it with a nice Jewish boy.

Modern, pretty, colorful and under $100.
You can find it here.

Here's another similarly styled menorah. More of a classic look with a modern silhouette. Also available in matte silver.
You can find it here.

Over at Readmade.com, I fell for this DIY menorah, made out of painted white bottles. Give it a try here.

Boy, am I glad this holiday emphasizes blue and white. See, automatically we're looking good.

I mean.... just, gorgeous.
Gorgeous.

Beautifully designed.
Creatively implimented.
I love it.

Designed by StudioKahn
It's awesome to see on their site how it's made by hand.

Sold on Etsy, of course.

HAUGHT HANUKKAH STYLE:

Here's a pretty post about home decorating for Hanukkah from StyleAtHome.com

Very simple and shabby chic. Pops of purple bring it all together.

Oh, Martha, Martha, Martha.

If she had made these out of mason jars, then I would have just swooned. In the meantime, I'll settle for jumping for joy.

I love these Hanukkah-styled hurricane DIY lanterns. That's a mouthful. So worth typing out though.

Make some for your table here.

Another goodie from Martha.
This image has been making the rounds on Pinterest.

I love all things glitter, much to my family's chagrin. But I do. And this table setting SPARKLES, baby, sparkles.

Let me put it this way.
If I walked into your house and saw this table setting, I would probably say something uncouth, like, "HOLY CRAP THAT'S AWESOME!"

It's hard to restrain myself when I see such fun, lovely displays of creativity. I'm not so sure I would include the feather chandeleir, but I do appreciate the pizzaz.

Enjoy more from this table here at TheJewishHostess.com.

Jews can do garlands, no?

This super pretty craft idea can be found at Better Homes & Garden.

How nice of them to remember our people during the garland/wreath making season.

Now this? This is taste.
Modern, simple, silhouetted.
I love it all.

Curbly.com featured this family's Hanukkah table and I think it was the right choice.

ACCESSORIES WITH AN ACCENT
Clothing? For Hanukkah? Yes. I found this. And despite the fact that this kid looks like 50% of the guys I dated, and I quite possibly married him, I do think this is quite a fun way to get cozy on Hanukkah.

You can purchase the sweater (not the boy) over here.

They make one for girls too.

So one of two things needs to happen with this.

Either I buy this for my niece.
Or I figure out how to make them on my own.

I secretly think I would make a great manicurist. Just the art part though, I don't cut cuticles.

In the meantime, you can find them here.
